About Bobbi Brown
Bobbi Brown, a professional makeup artist, made her mark
with a style that embraces your natural appearance. It's a look that changed
the market nearly thirty years ago and has outlasted all of the beauty trends
that have come and gone since.
œMakeup should not be a mask. Makeup should not change the
way you look. Makeup should enhance who you are. ” Bobbi Brown
How to Build a Makeup Kit
œFirst of all, you have to take your makeup kit and you have
to spill it out, Bobbi says. œLook at it. Anything that™s broken, anything
that smells bad, has to go first. Then you make sure that the colors are still
good for you. After you've gotten rid of everything that doesn't belong, here
are the beauty products Bobbi always brings:
1. Moisturizer: A good moisturizer or serum hydrates your
skin and can be used as part of your skin care routine or as a face primer
before applying makeup. "I've been using one with a little shimmer in it
lately," Bobbi says. "It simply adds a nice sheen." Choose a
moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type and complements the other
products in your makeup routine.
2. Foundation or tinted balm: The best foundations will even
out your skin tone and provide a foundation for your makeup without looking
unnatural. "I haven't been wearing foundation, so I've been using tinted
balm," Bobbi explains. If you don't like full-coverage foundation, try a
tinted moisturizer with SPF.
3. Color palette: Rather than bringing multiple eyeshadow
palettes, Bobbi creates a custom compact filled with her favorite shades.
"I basically [remove] shadows from [existing] compacts," she
explains. Bobbi's favorite compact contains three eyeshadows (one light, one
medium, and two darks) and a blush. Include the appropriate brushes for your
products.
4. Complexion pencils or concealer: Concealers are used
to cover under-eye circles and blemishes. "In terms of my skin,"
Bobbi says, "I'm a real minimalist." Bobbi uses complexion pencils in
two shades instead of foundation or liquid concealer. "I do a pencil on my
eyes and a spot concealer, and that's about it," she adds. "If I'm on
camera, I'll use the one I use for spots and do my entire face."
5. "I absolutely use black mascara," Bobbi says of
her eye makeup. Mascara, when combined with an eyelash curler, helps draw
attention to your eyes. She adds, "I also have a brown and a black
pencil." For a smudged look, use a pencil, while liquid eyeliner will help
you achieve the perfect cat-eye. You might also want to include an eyebrow
pencil.
6. Lipstick or gloss: Use lipstick or lip gloss to add color
or shine to your lips. "I wear a gloss, and my gloss is usually light or
lip color," Bobbi says.
How to Build a Nighttime Makeup Kit
œInstead of having a big bag for the night, it™s just good
to make it mini, she says. œIn the evening, I™ve [already] done my makeup, and
this is just for me touching up. Bobbi travels with a small purse that only
holds her phone and the following nighttime beauty essentials:
1. Compact: "I always keep a compact with a mirror on
hand," Bobbi says. She likes to travel with a shimmery compact. "I
could use it with a brush on my cheeks, I could use it with a brush on my eyes,
but it's also [my] mirror," she explains. It makes no difference what
product goes in the compact as long as it has a mirror. "If you have oily
skin," Bobbi suggests, "perhaps the compact should be your
powder."
2. Highlighter: Highlighters attract light, creating a glowy
appearance and emphasizing underlying bone structure. Bobbi likes to highlight
her cheeks and eyes with the same highlighter.
3. Lipstick or gloss: Bobbi's favorite lip product is
"light, glossy, and sparkly." "However, not everyone enjoys
light. So go get yourself something red," she says, if that's your thing.
Just make sure it's durable.
4. Breath fresheners: "I never leave the house without
my peppermints," Bobbi says. To get "all the little things out of
your teeth," she also recommends individually packaged mini toothbrushes
with toothpaste.
5. Complexion pencil: Bobbi's complexion pencil, which
doubles as a lip liner and a concealer for discoloration or dark undereye
circles.
6. Fragrance: According to Bobbi, "I always bring a
fragrance." She brings perfume samples from the beauty counter rather than
a full-size bottle. She continues, "Those little minis they give away,
grab them."
7. Eyebrow spoolie: Use a dry spoolie or brow gel to brush
your brows straight up to add drama.
Bobbi Brown™s Tips for Building a Travel Makeup Kit
œDecide what you actually need and what you don™t need.
Those few minutes are gonna make a big difference. When you travel, when you go
anywhere, just take the time and just simplify, Bobbi says. Here is how she
assembles a makeup bag that is TSA-friendly.
1. Pack your goods in more compact containers. I prefer to
depot my own belongings when I travel, she says. For items like shampoo,
conditioner, and mouthwash, she prefers plastic containers. Just be certain
there isn't anything breakable, Bobbi advises.
2. Label each item. Bobbi enjoys giving everything a label,
particularly her travel bottles. She says, "Label it so you know exactly
what it is." Any products that are left over can be poured back into their
original containers once you return home from your trip.
3. Bring only what you require. The majority of hotels have
cotton rounds, so you really don't need to bring any, she explains. If you go
to someone's house to stay, they probably have the necessities.
4. Keep multipurpose products in mind. Think about using
face wipes rather than liquid makeup remover. They're fantastic for removing
makeup and cleaning your face, according to Bobbi.
